"re-imagine global community" is a benefit party for the 2009
iLEAP International Fellowship program being held at the Phinney Neighborhood
Center on November 15th,
2008. iLEAP is bringing together Seattle’s
social enterprise community for a big night of fun! iLEAP works to connect people who are
enhancing lives around the globe in clever, innovative and sustainable ways.
Come join the fun and connect with some of the most inspiring people Seattle
has to offer.
The iLEAP International
Fellowship program brings leaders from civil society organizations working for
positive social change in Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, to Seattle,
Washington for a 3 month intensive program in professional skill building,
academic study, and global networking. The Fellowship program is organized
around the central themes of: social enterprise, reflective practice,
collaborative leadership, and social and environmental sustainability. It is
designed to leverage the remarkable human resource base in the Seattle area
working on these issues.
The theme for the November
15th party is ‘Bringing it Home’ signifying the critical approach iLEAP takes towards supporting our global participants
as they integrate learning and experience back into their lives and communities
around the world. Live music will be provided by International recording artist and a 2006 Earshot Vocalist of the Year
Nominee, Rochelle House, and up-and-coming musician Tamara Power-Drutis.
Doors open at 6:30pm, with food
from Everest Kitchen and drink from local wineries, breweries, and Maker’s
Mark, all available at the event.
General admission tickets cost $35 and include a beverage ticket.
Evidence of the strong local
support for iLEAP and its programs can be found in the range of partners for
this party. They include: Antioch University Seattle, Project Stand, Pathables,
EarthCorps, Interra, Solid Ground, Feet First, Everest Kitchen, Maker’s Mark, Trees
of Antiquity, Crooked Trails, and Community Alliance for Global Justice.
100% of all proceeds from
the party go toward bringing the iLEAP Fellows to Seattle for the Spring 2009 Fellowship program.

iLEAP: The Center for Critical Service
iLEAP: The Center for Critical Service is a 501c3, tax-exempt nonprofit organization
with a mission to cultivate and inspire a new generation of global
citizens who are motivated by a commitment to service and have the
practical skills, rigorous critical thinking, and global community of
support to create positive social and systemic change in the world. In
the pursuit of this mission, iLEAP
designs and delivers a variety of experiential educational programs
that serve as the catalyst for this new generation, and, work to
nurture meaningful collaborations between people, organizations,
and community. All of our programs emphasize social enterprise,
collaboration, conversation and dialogue, and rigorous engagement with
ideas and theory. We develop these unique programs in close
partnerships with colleges and universities, civil society groups, and
for-profit businesses, and programs range in length from one day to
nine months. Through our programs, we seek to inspire a worldwide
community of interlinked global citizens and innovative organizations
who are connected through their commitment and courage to take risks
and engage life with a humble passion and abiding sense of humor as
they work with, and in the service of others.
